Unfinished business: budget cuts could not complete -and what is below for DOGE

Although Elon Musk leaves a legacy of mass cuts behind the government programs that left many Washington members, DC, in its creation, could not achieve all the high goals it set at the beginning of its time as head of the Government Efficiency Department.

From the outset, DOGE was affected not only with a negative press tsunami and outraged democratic legislators, but also a series of demands, which reduced it to prolonged legal battles.

This, along with the reality of most of the main final cuts that require the approval of Congress to carry out, relegated the impact of DOGE on reducing the edges of large programs and agencies that would probably have liked to completely eliminate.

Despite Musk’s efforts, in many cases, agencies such as the consumer’s financial protection office could only be reduced and limited, while total elimination requires a congressional event.

Last week, the U.S. District Court Judge, Beryl Howell, blocked the dismantling of the Trump Administration of the United States Institute of Peace, writing in a ruling that the removal of members of his advice and taking the headquarters of DOGE members are “null” actions.

Stern stated that “at the end of the day, they were just a bit excessive about the amount of legal authority they should be able to make many cuts.”

When Stern believes that DOGE may have the greatest impact is to focus on the information collection aspects and complainants of its mission.
